This unbelievable water festival has to be witnessed to be believed. If however you are in Pattaya at any time between the 13th and the 19th April you will not only witness it, but you will be involved in it, that I can assure you. Nobody, unless they stay in their room for a week, gets away without getting drenched. Even the police are fair game.

That helmets not going to save him. The water cannons are very powerful, a bit like a jet wash. Are you not suppose to jet wash the bike and not the person? The other 2 are not trying to help either; they don’t want to miss out on the fun.

After a good drenching they’re not finished yet, and are heading back to reload. There’s a load more fun to be had yet.
The safest place to be if you want to stay dry is in this coach. You can get a great view of the water festival from here as you drive around Pattaya. Do not however think you can escape all that water; you have to get on and off that coach.
Are you ready?
Then let the battle commence. You can see from this picture that most of the pick-ups travel round with large tubs of water on board. Ready for any on street battle that may arrive.
Yet another pick-up loaded with water and people. The little girl looks like she’s had enough for now. Remember that this is a festival in Thailand and the whole day’s about fun, fun, and more fun. She won’t come to any harm, all the Thais with treat her with care.
This is a regular occurrence during Songkran; one of the people in the pick-up has just got the better of one on the ground. Now its war and everyone joins in to absolutely drench everyone within that pick-up. Great fun!
